Description
The challenge was to design a new performing arts facility on an internal site located on a small state college campus in western central Florida. The building was to replace an existing outdated building that had served its useful life. The program was to feature an intimate 150-person Recital Hall, a much-needed addition to the adjacent performing arts complex. The new building’s circulation was to connect to the internal circulation of the adjacent facility to promote student and faculty interaction. The new Recital Hall has a sloped ?oor with ?xed theatrical seating and an acoustically shaped proscenium. It will be a perfect venue for soloists and small ensembles and is acoustically designed to perform well with both unampli?ed and ampli?ed performances. The Recital Hall has a separate entrance lobby facing a new Entry Plaza, so the public can easily access performances without having to enter student instructional spaces.
